Research Theme2:A Natural Capital and pluralistic values framework

This Research Theme will develop an overarching Natural Capital framework that will form the foundation for the VALMAS project.

We have identified four key stages that the project will follow in exploring the value of marine artificial structures based on international best practice. four key stages that the project will follow

Importantly we have highlighted a number of principles or approaches that should underpin the framework, such as applying a logic chain framing, having a Life Framework Approach (IPBES), adopting a pluralistic approach to valuation and supporting a Just Transition. All of these principles are either embedded in International Conventions, National Policies, sectoral best practice or state of the art science. We look forward to exploring these principles with the *project stakeholders* and co-creating a mutually agreed, practical and meaningful framework that supports decision-making.
